Problem definition rules

These rules are taken from a book called “Are your lights on?”.

1. Don’t rush to solve the problem!

2. Don’t take their solution method for the problem definition!

3. If I can't think of at least three things that may be wrong with my understanding of the problem then I don't understand the problem.

4. Test your definition on a foreigner or a child. Try to find a misfit.

5. Don’t solve problems for other people if they can do it themselves.
